About St Marys Lutheran Church
-
At St. Mary's people of all ages and backgrounds worship together and we welcome all members and visitors with great hospitality.
We believe that it's important to make room for people to ask questions and that you don't have to know all the answers. Faith isn't about passing a written exam, it's about continuing to come and see. It's about a way of life.
St. Mary's is similar to other Christian churches regarding creeds, the Holy Trinity and sacraments. We focus on the practices of discipleship: prayer, loving relationships, services and generosity. We emphasize practicing His faith with generosity, hospitality and prayer, and all are welcome.
Our church partners with missions and ministries locally and around the world, including Habitat for Humanity, ELCA Outreach Center in Kenosha, Congregations United to Serve Humanity, the Shalom Center and through the larger church, Nkoaranga Orphanage in Northern Tanzania.
St. Mary's has a large number of music ministries including choirs, bell and tone choirs, and a worship band. There are women's circles that meet during each month. The high school youth group "Fusion" and the 55+ group "The Friendly Center" are open to the larger community. A parish nurse leads our health and wellness ministry.
During the regular programming year (Sept - May), Sunday school classes are at 9:15 am and are for children from age 3 to fifth grade. Middle school-aged youth meet on Monday night for FISH - our three year confirmation program. High school students meet Wednesday evenings for Bible study and fellowship. Various classes and programs for adults are offered between services on Sunday and at other times during the week. All religious education curriculum and service planning is coordinated so that all are dwelling on the same scripture lesson each week.
