WOW
Worship on Wednesdays (WOW) is an interactive faith formation experience for children ages 4-years-old through sixth grade. We believe we’re in the business of helping parents raise heroic children, willing to go ChildAndYouthMinistries_WOWLogoagainst the tide, because they embrace a better way to live and know how to ask God for help.
This once a month event runs from 5:30-7:30 p.m. and includes a family dinner, music, lessons from the Bible, crafts and projects.
This program attempts to respect the busy schedules most families manage, while still providing a meaningful and integrated spiritual formation experience for children. Parents are invited to take the time following dinner and closing worship to relax in the Fireside Room, join others for a destination downtown (just a block away) or run an errand.
Youth Ministries
Youth (grades 6th to 12th) can find meaningful engagement through the following:
Sunday School- 1st-3rd Sundays at 11:15. A wide variety of topics that are relevant and interesting!
BRaTs (Breakfast, Religion and Teens)- we meet the first Saturday of each month at a different eatery in Silverton for free breakfast and good conversation. Call the church for the next meeting time and place!

ASAP
ASAP is an after school enrichment program that provides support, encouragement and nurture to middle-school youth to assist them toward a positive transition into adolescence. It is a program cosponsored by four Silverton churches: First Christian Church, Immanuel Lutheran Church, St. Paul’s Catholic Church, and Silverton United Methodist Church.
ASAP is designed to enrich and empower middle-school youth so they will:
grow academically through homework and tutoring opportunities and support;
grow socially through character building exercises;
develop emotionally and physically through health and recreation programs, and;
feel safe and secure while being supervised by competent and caring staff and volunteers.
Volunteers are needed for Kitchen Teams, Tutoring, and for Recreation and Special Interests (things like knitting and photography.)
For more information visit the ASAP website or contact coordinator ; coordinator@asapsilvertonor.org.
Healthy Snack Sacks
This program grew out of a heart-felt call to answer the needs of children and families who are food-insecure. Volunteers gather every Thursday to pack small lunch sacks with healthy treats provided by donation from members of the congregation. Each sack is decorated by yet another volunteer who embellishes them with simple but fun images. Sacks are prepared for children and for teens with an age-appropriate treat. Cards are included that say Friends Helping Friends, from your friends at Silverton United Church.

Weekend Backpack Program
Our church has partnered with Scotts Mills school which identifies three or four families (anonymous to us) in need of an extra boost over the weekend. Each Friday, food suitable for the family’s size is packed and taken to the school for distribution to the selected families. These backpacks contain the same card that’s included in the Healthy Snack Sacks.
