About Evangelical Bible Church
-
I don’t know who came up with the name for our local church, but I really like it. Evangelical Bible Church may not be the trendiest name, but it says a lot about who we are.
First, we are EVANGELICAL which simply means gospel. The word, evangelical, is a constant reminder that our primary purpose is the gospel, or good news, of Jesus Christ. Every person shares the same problem of sin and the same need of a Savior. Jesus said we must repent of our sin and believe upon Him for salvation. We are all about Jesus, and so we are evangelical.
Second, we are also a BIBLE church. The Bible is the written word of God. The Bible is food for our soul and direction for our feet. We read and study the Bible in order to know God better and live according to His plan. Our church preaches through the Bible in a verse-by-verse manner every Sunday morning. We trust the Bible to be complete and true in every way, and so we are a Bible church.
Third, we are a CHURCH. The word indicates a gathering of those who believe in Jesus Christ. As a local gathering of God’s people, we provide opportunities for Christians to do life together. We gather to worship God, be taught from the Bible, enjoy Christian fellowship, and proclaim Christ to the world. My prayer is that God will be glorified in the church throughout all generations (Ephesians 3:21).
I welcome you to consider Evangelical Bible Church for yourself. Of course, we are only one local church who shares these things in common. Each church has a personality and a culture that sets it apart from others. If you do not have one already, I encourage you to seek a church to call home. Seek a church that strongly desires to honor God. Look for one that teaches the Bible and loves people well, and then find a way to get involved.
Names really do matter, and there is one name above them all. The Bible says the day will come when every knee will bow and every tongue declare that Jesus Christ is Lord. The name of Jesus is the name above all other names (Philippians 2:9-11). I pray you will find peace and joy in Him.
