About Armor Bible Presbyterian Church
-
Welcome to Armor Bible Church, PCA. We are a Reformed Church in the Presbyterian Church in America. We hold to the Westminster Confession of Faith as our confessional standard. We desire to worship God and serve one another in Spirit and in Truth through the ordinary means of grace.
Core Beliefs
The Word is Central
Christ is at the center of Armor’s worship and community. “In the beginning was the word” (John 1:1ff) is a statement referring to Jesus, and so Jesus as revealed through the whole Scriptures is also at the very foundation of our worship, community, and fellowship.
God-centered Worship
Armor cherishes the Lord’s Day, offering this day (that we also know as Sunday) as a day set apart for God’s purpose and delight. We desire to honor God as he has taught us through Scripture, and that means cherishing the ordinary acts of praying, singing, preaching, and reading his Word. The focus of our attention when we worship is on God.
Reformed & Presbyterian
Armor governs itself with a body of Elders that represents Jesus’ church. The men which make up this body of Elders are charged with the spiritual care and nurture of the church. We believe this is what is modeled in the New Testament.
Armor is also reformed. This means we trace our theological roots back to the time of the Reformation where Martin Luther and John Calvin were at the front of the march of Protestantism which sought to reform the church according to the Bible. We hold to the essential tenets of the Reformed faith as expressed in the confessions, the Westminster Confession of Faith and Three Forms of Unity, as authentic and reliable expositions of what Scripture leads us to believe and do. This is beneficial because our congregation can know exactly what we preach and teach in the ministry of the church.
Thorough Preaching
As Christ’s Word, the Bible is worth preaching in its entirety. Armor preaches through the Scriptures, verse by verse, chapter by chapter, book by book, and leaves no verse uncovered and no topic unchecked. If Christ is present in his Word, then Christians should not be shy from it! This is known as Lectio Continua, or the preaching of the Word through whole books of the Bible. We are passionate about the preaching of God’s Word!
Simple Worship
In a world that is constantly trying to innovate, seeking to attract people merely by their preferences and interests, Armor seeks to uphold the same worship that was present in the early church of the New Testament. “And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers” (Acts 2:42). Our worship is simple, with a lot of singing, preaching, praying, confessing, loving, cherishing, and growing in the newness of life found in Christ. Armor is keen on preserving what Christ instituted in the New Covenant, and that is the commitment to simple worship with our Savior as the pilot, captain, and head of the Church. We believe there is great power in the simple worship of God’s People.
