About First Reformed Church of Secaucus

The First Reformed Church is a multicultural, intergenerational congregation gathered to offer back to God and to our neighbors the love which we have been shown in Jesus Christ. Organized in 1882, we have ancient roots in gracious providence of God and the presence of the Holy Spirit in and among us, and our hope for the future in the coming again of Jesus. We hold the scriptures as the standard for conduct and faith. Our Reformed theology and doctrine as well as our evangelical suasions trace back to the Protestant Reformation. We join hands with other Christians in time honored creeds and confessions of the faith.

First Reformed holds prayer as the chief gift and tool of the believer in his or her life and ministry in the church and in the world. We encourage the life of prayer among our members as the vocation of all those who follow Jesus. We also encourage good works as a way of thanking God for the life we have found in God's family. For both the inward and the outward journey we pray for the manifestation of the Holy Spirit's gift to fulfill the work of ministry.

Membership is open to all those who have made a confession of faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Membership classes are available for those who want to prepare for such a confession and/or those who would like to reaffirm that confession.
