About St Edwards Catholic Church
-
The Church of St. Edward was established in 1967 to meet the needs of the growing city of Bloomington and the new residents moving into new neighborhoods. We are named for St. Edward the Confessor and share his belief in helping the less fortunate. The first Mass in our new church was celebrated in 1970 by our founding pastor, Fr. Paul Dudley, later Bishop of Sioux Falls, S.D. Our founding parishioners still enjoy telling stories about Mass celebrated at Hubert Olson Junior High, fondly called St. Hubert Olson. In 1990 we dedicated an addition to our building, which gave us more meeting rooms, office space and a beautiful social hall.
Today our parish includes more than 1,400 households—singles, couples, families at all life stages. Hundreds of volunteers share their time, talent and treasure with us in ministries that assist our parish and the broader community.
In 2012 and 2013, we completed a Parish Assessment and Renewal to help us plan for our future and set goals to keep St. Edward’s a strong and vibrant community of faith.
