About St Botolph Anglican Catholic
-
At St Botolph Anglican Catholic, our aim is to follow Jesus' example. It's as simple as that. Our fervent desire is to follow Jesus, as he is revealed to us in scripture, in God's story of his love for broken humanity. We believe that Jesus is the Lord of all things, that through his life, death, and resurrection, he has made the way to peace with God. We want to follow Jesus in the way he has shown us, extending his love and grace to others. But we can't do this alone. In order to grow we must begin with loving and helping each other as we follow Jesus together. We are not perfect, we have not arrived. Following means journeying, growing, struggling, sacrificing, even suffering. But we can rest in the knowledge that he is with us along the way.
We believe that Adam, made in the image of God, distorted that image and forfeited his original blessedness - for himself and all his progeny - by falling into sin through Satan's temptation. As a result, all human beings are alienated from God, corrupted in every aspect of their being (e.g., physically, mentally, volitionally, emotionally, spiritually) and condemned finally and irrevocably to death-apart from God's own gracious intervention. The supreme need of all human beings is to be reconciled to the God under whose just and holy wrath we stand; the only hope of all human beings is the undeserved love of this same God, who alone can rescue us and restore us to himself.
About The Holy Spirit: We believe the Holy Spirit dwells within all believers, empowering our lives with his presence and power to live a godly life and accomplish God's will. (John 16:5-15; Romans 8:10-11; 1 Cor. 3:16)
About Salvation: We believe in salvation by grace through faith in Jesus Christ; that this salvation is based upon the sovereign grace of God; that it was purchased by Christ on the cross; that it is received through faith, apart from any human merit, works, or ritual; and that salvation results in righteous living, good works and biblically informed actions to bring about godly justice wherever we live.
