About Trinity Christian Community

Trinity Christian Community was founded in 1967, in the heart of civil unrest in the deep south. The Rev. William J. Brown, a WWII veteran of the Normandy Invasion, had come to New Orleans after graduating from Fuller Theological Seminary to pastor Canal St. Presbyterian Church. Upon seeing the squalor experienced by those living in the ghetto and the conditions brought about by Jim Crow laws, his heart was moved.

He moved his family into the inner city and began sharing the love of Jesus in Word and deed. Over the years this ranged from evangelistic crusades to entrepreneurship education. Ministries included:

The House of the Risen Son–a residence for men struggling with life challenges
The Upper Room–a coffee house and drop-in center for hippies
The Good Samaritan Ministry–a church-based social safety net
Irish Channel Christian Fellowship–an inner city church plant
Maranatha Motors–an auto repair shop that taught work skills
The Trinity Christian Training Institute–an urban ministry training school

and much more.
