About Sale Street Baptist Church
-
Our church began as Prien Lake Mission sponsored by Trinity Baptist Church in 1948. It was later organized as Sale Street Baptist Church, October 15, 1950, with sixty charter members.
In June of 1955 Trinity deeded two acres, a small frame chapel and an army barracks to Sale Street Baptist Church.
In 1957 the first educational space, which is now the present office was completed. The first auditorium was dedicated June 26, 1960. Adult educational space and fellowship facilities were provided with
completion of the Fellowship Hall in 1967. In 1972 the church built the Children's Building and opened a day care center, which was closed May 2009.
In 1975 the church assumed the debt of Calvary Baptist Church and operated it as a mission until it was sold to Tarsus Baptist Church. In 1978 the church purchased the annex property. The first auditorium
was remodeled in 1979. In 1980 the church began sponsoring Faithway Mission. In 1982 a Together We Build program was launched to finance a new auditorium, which was dedicated April 1, 1984.
Rev. Ernest Walker served as pastor from 1957 until he retired in 1987. Rev. Paul Wheelus, Sr. served as pastor from February 1, 1987 until July 12, 1989. Dr. Eddie Simmons served as pastor from

journey of faith as we join God in accomplishing His purposes.
