What We Believe
"For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast." Ephesians 2:8-9
GRACE BELIEVERS BIBLE CHURCH IS AN INDEPENDENT, NON-DENOMINATIONAL BIBLE CHURCH THAT BELIEVES THE KING JAMES BIBLE IS GOD’S WORD. WE STAND FOR THE FUNDAMENTALS OF THE FAITH; HOWEVER, WE DIFFER FROM MAINLINE FUNDAMENTALISM IN SEVERAL AREAS. BELOW IS OUR POSITION ON SEVERAL DOCTRINAL ISSUES:
SALVATION: Salvation is a free gift without any work whatsoever. (Eph 2:8-9) Salvation is not dependent upon walking the aisle, joining the church, being baptized, turning over a new leaf, repenting of your sins, turning from your sins, forsaking your sins, confessing your sins, asking for forgiveness of your sins or inviting Christ into your heart. Forgiveness is available to all who believe that Christ died for our sins, was buried and rose again and that God forgave us for Christ’s sake. (I Cor 15:1-4) Salvation is trusting completely in what Christ did in our behalf on Calvary. (Eph 1:13) We believe that this glorious truth has been hidden from the world in general by the religious system of this world that has substituted the traditions of men for the truth. If by Grace it is no more of works... Rom 11:6
GOD’S WORD: We believe that the King James Bible is God’s inspired, pure, perfect and preserved word without error.
CHURCH MEMBERSHIP: Since all saved individuals are members of the body of Christ regardless of church affiliation, they are welcome (as is everyone) at Grace Believers Bible Church. We do not believe that any church should require more for church membership than God requires for salvation. The Lord knoweth them that are his (II Tim 2:19). We do maintain a membership list for purposes of voting. All that is required for membership is signed agreement to our church constitution.
DENOMINATIONS: We believe that to divide the church, which is Christ’s body, into denominations is unscriptural. Since all saved individuals are members of the body of Christ, there is no need to be divided into groups that were founded by men. We have no ties to any denominations, associations or ecumenical groups. We do associate with, and support, those of like doctrine across the nation.
DOCTRINE: As stated previously, we hold to the fundamentals of the faith such as the deity of Christ, the virgin birth, the blood atonement and the inspiration of the Scriptures. We also RIGHTLY DIVIDE THE WORD OF TRUTH as we are told to do in II Timothy 2:15. This means that we distinguish between the doctrine for the church, the body of Christ, found in Paul’s epistles (Romans-Philemon) and the rest of the Bible. Since Paul is the apostle of the Gentiles (Rom 11:13, 15:16, II Tim 1:11) and was given the dispensation of the Grace of God (Eph 3:1-6) we are to follow him as we are told to do in II Cor 11:1 and 4:3. To teach the Kingdom doctrine found in Matthew through John as doctrine for today only leads to confusion. While all of the Bible is written FOR us, it is evident that it is not all written TO us. Everyone divides the Bible somewhere, but it is important that we "RIGHTLY" divide it. This truth is readily seen by those who study the Bible without pre-conceived ideas. Please note that this doctrine is not something that originated with us, but has been in existence since Paul and was believed by many through the years.
Note: In Paul’s writings alone we find the doctrine, position, walk and destiny of the church. [ Scofield’s note on Ephseians 3:6]
MINISTRY: Our ministry as a local church is to preach the Gospel of the Grace of God whereby the lost will be saved, and to teach the Word of God Rightly Divided so that the saints will be edified. While we are a small group we do have classes for all ages and believe that it is very important to teach children the Word of God. If children can be taught error at a young age they can also be taught truth. We believe that it is the scriptural ministry of the local church to be a source of fellowship and Bible study; therefore, we provide opportunities for both. Although we would love to have a large number of people, it is not our goal to build a large congregation for numbers' sake. We believe that it is far more important to stand for the truth than it is to grow in number. We have no stewardship drives and do not believe that it is our responsibility to control people's lives. We welcome anyone to come and study the Bible with us and encourage people to prove the things they hear taught by the Word of God rather than accepting the word of man as fact. We welcome questions from those who have a desire to study God’s Word with an open mind realizing that much of what is taught in religion is not scriptural for today.
