About Midlane Park Presbyterian Church
Midlane Park Presbyterian Church is a member of the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church, a conservative denomination that is located primarily in the southeastern United States, but stretches from New York and Canada to Texas. We also have a missionary presence in Pakistan, Turkey, and Europe (Wales, Germany, Spain, Lithuania). We are a part of NAPARC (the North American Presbyterian and Reformed Council), and enjoy fraternal relations with other conservative Presbyterian denominations, such as the PCA, OPC, and RPCNA.
Our confessional standard is the Westminster Confession of Faith, along with the Westminster Shorter Catechism and Larger Catechism. You may also be interested to read our Directory of Public Worship.
"Associate Reformed Presbyterian" is a lengthy name that serves as a firm reminder of our denomination's rich historical heritage. We are a combination of "Associate" (Seceder) and "Reformed" (Covenanter) churches that merged in the late 18th century in America. The name emphasis the two twin concerns of the ARP Church which continue today: The Free Offer of the Gospel and the Lordship of Jesus Christ in all things. It is by faithfullly remembering our past that we are able to stand firm against the shifting winds of modern culture that more often than not has too much of an influence on the modern church. To put it more simply: we seek to do all things for the glory of Christ and according to His word for the proclamation of His gospel.
Our founding fathers cared a great deal about evangelism and emphasized the ordinary means of grace within the church: heartfelt prayers, powerful preaching of the Word, meaningful celebration of the Lord's Supper and baptism, and teaching youth and new believers the full message of the gospel set forth in the Old and New Testaments of Holy Scripture. We continue these traditions and look to the Westminster Confession of Faith and the Larger and Shorter Catechisms as excellent summaries and teaching tools.
