At Berea United Methodist Church, we know that walking into a church for the first time can be a bit intimidating. We really strive to be a church that meets people where they are, whether you've been following Jesus for many years or are just starting to investigate faith. Our hope is that you will discover Berea United Methodist Church in Berea, Kentucky to be a place where you can find community, grow in your relationship with Jesus and discover the mission for your life.
We believe that we don't have all the answers and that disagreement and discussion are healthy. We believe that the faith community is great not because it's like-minded on every issue but because it is rooted in faith in Jesus, who is a lot more interesting than religion has made Him seem.
About Mankind: We believe that mankind was originally created good but fell into a state of sin through disobedience. We inherit a sinful nature from Adam and we commit individual sins. This sin separates us from God and makes it impossible for us to earn salvation by works.
About Salvation: We believe in salvation by grace through faith in Jesus Christ; that this salvation is based upon the sovereign grace of God; that it was purchased by Christ on the cross; that it is received through faith, apart from any human merit, works, or ritual; and that salvation results in righteous living, good works and biblically informed actions to bring about godly justice wherever we live.
