About St James Evangelical Lutheran Church

We are ...

A small community of Lutherans committed to service to the community and one another.

Worship is liturgical, alive and infused with meaningful ritual, explanation & celebration.

We gather around Word and Table to be continually transformed by Christ and sent into the world to be servants of the Gospel.

With Christ at the Center, we interpret scripture and see the world through the lens of the cross of Christ, walking in a path of servant-hood that has been part of the Church from it's earliest days.

We are "Confessional," meaning we belief that our faith is beautifully and mysteriously articulated in the words of the Apostles' and the Nicene Creeds, as well as expounded upon and explained in the Augsburg Confession, and the other writings of the Reformation, gathered into the Book of Concord.


We proudly claim who we are, so that we can be universal in our acceptance of who others might be!

We are a people of Promise!! Each day we seek to become stronger in our faith to that promise.

ALL are welcome ... to help us expand our ministry and grow in faith and tradition.

St. James Lutheran Church has embarked on a partnership-in-ministry with the congregation of La Iglesia Luterana La Resureccion, Garden City, Kansas. Mutual support and prayer, as well as joint events and sharing Pastors, is creating a new community of faith and ministry - multiethnic, multicultural, multilingual.

St. James Lutheran Church has also embarked on serious partnerships in ministry with the Presbyterian Church of Garden City and the Community Congregational Church (UCC) of Garden City. Our communities worship jointly on the 5th Sundays of the month. And, we are looking for creative and fresh ways to do outreach and live the Gospel.

Worship is Sunday morning at 9:00am.

Holy Communion is celebrated weekly.
