About Vineyard Community Church
-
Jim and Kristy Bricker started Vineyard Community Church with a small group of friends in 1993. God gave Jim a vision of a church where people—churched and unchurched—could come as they are and feel loved. This would be a place where people could worship passionately, learn the Bible in practical ways, and be a casual setting where anyone could come and be a part of what God is doing.
Vineyard Community Church met for the first time in a meeting room at the Saint Andrews Apartments in Greenwood on Mother's Day of 1993. That first celebration included 35 people. And we've been celebrating ever since.
In 2021, we began our partnership with the Baxter YMCA. Over the past 29 years, our church family has welcomed countless thousands in the Central Indiana area and has grown from 35 people to more than 1000 committed members, from the local gathered body to our online community.
Vineyard Community Church is part of Vineyard USA
Vineyard USA (VUSA) is a rapidly growing multi-ethnic network of over 2400+ churches worldwide, and has impacted the Church as a whole across denominational lines in uncountable ways. The Vineyard movement emerged on the scene in the late 1970s, at what has been called a “crossroads” of American Christianity and culture. Calling ourselves “empowered evangelicals,” the Vineyard Movement seeks to blend the best of the Evangelical traditions with their focus on Christ-like character and regard for the Scriptures, with the best of the Pentecostal and Charismatic traditions of welcoming the empowering of the Holy Spirit for life, ministry, and acts of service.
