About Trinity Episcopal Church
Trinity Church, located in the heart of Michigan City's Uptown Arts District, offers a spoken Mass in the Chapel at 8:00 a.m. and a sung Mass at 10:00 a.m. on Sundays. Both services are very traditional. The 1922 Austin pipe organ is used in the 10:00 a.m. Mass.As the longest running continuous Christian community in Northern Indiana, Trinity church claims a rich heritage. It was originally the Cathedral of Northern Indiana until the Cathedral and Bishop's office were established in South Bend.
Adjacent to the beautiful neo-Gothic church are the Bishop's Mansion, which serves as the rectory, and historic Barker Hall.
Barker Hall was given by the Barker family and was the social and cultural center of Michigan City in the mid-1900s. Mr. Barker owned the company that built the beautifully ornate Pullman cars. Weddings, dances, theater, dinners and movies are regularly scheduled in Barker Hall.
Trinity Church also maintains the largest food pantry in the diocese, feeing about 1000 families each month. The Thrift Shop provides quality clothing and household items for the lowest prices in town, and all profits go back to the community.
Trinity is host to programs such as AA, and also provides space for the Duneland Area Children's Band.
Michigan City is located at the scenic southern tip of Lake Michigan, boasts a beautiful lakeside park and zoo, and is a short one-hour ride by train to both Chicago and the University of Notre Dame in South Bend.
