About Living Stones Church
-
We have been committed to building strong marriages and families for over thirty years! Pastor Ron and Carol Johnson, our founding pastors, began ministering to troubled marriages in their home on Sunday nights. What started out as three couples looking for some answers exploded into over 100 people packing into their very modest home! God was moving powerfully and the people were hungry for more of the Lord.
After receiving a remarkable series of prophetic words from a variety of seasoned Christian leaders, Ron and Carol obeyed the Lord to start a church.
On the third Sunday in October, 1981, the church was born with 34 people in attendance in the Johnson’s living room. After only three months, we outgrew the home and moved to the Knights of Columbus Hall in Cedar Lake, Indiana, where we stayed for almost three years.
After continual growth and blessing from the Lord, on October 4, 1984, we moved to Eisenhower School in Crown Point, Indiana. This was to be our home until the building at the corner of Pratt and Summit Streets would be completed.
Our first service on our own property, in our own church building, was on Mothers' Day, 1991.
We were in our new church building for only a few months when we realized that we had built too small. We had to have two morning services after only a year. In the spring of 1995, we held our second ground breaking ceremony where we began plans to build an educational facility with enough classrooms to hold our growing number of children. We also added our youth center, complete with a stage, balcony, snack bar and plenty of room for our students to gather for ministry and fellowship.
We are grateful to the Lord for His amazing faithfulness and provision over the years, and we are excited to see where He's leading us!
