About Good Shepherd United Methodist Church

A common question is this: What are the beliefs of the United Methodist Church and of Good Shepherd United Methodist Church?

Above all, we believe the unconditional love and eternal nature of God and the acceptance of all persons as children of God.

As a protestant denomination of the Christian religion, we believe in the creative power of God and God's unconditional love that is so extensive and expansive that God reaches across the universe to humanity with this love. We further believe that the embodiment (called the incarnation meaning becoming flesh) of this love was best exemplified and witnessed in the person of the historical Jesus Christ as written about in the scriptures of the Old and New Testament of the Bible. We believe the Bible to be the inspired word of God and becomes more powerful and applicable to our lives today when read, studied and placed in the context it was written in the original Hebrew, Greek and Aramaic languages. We do believe that the historical Jesus Christ is the true son of God and that Jesus lived, then died and then came to life (was resurrected) in bodily form by God's power alone.
The mission of Good Shepherd UMC is "The making of disciples (informed not coerced followers) of Jesus Christ for the transformation (life changing and fulfillment) of the world."
The vision is "To Create, Seek out and to BE in Relationship." (with God, the people of the church, our neighbors and the world.)
