About Church of the Good Shepherd
-
The Church of the Good Shepherd was founded in 1883 by Bishop Whipple of Minnesota. The original structure, a Carpenter Gothic church with unique Aesthetic Style stained glass windows, most likely from the Booth Studios, still functions as a beautiful place of worship, and was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2011.
The 5:00 pm Saturday and 8:00 am Sunday Rite I services are held in what is now referred to as the Chapel of the Church of the Good Shepherd. Weddings and funerals are also held in the Chapel.
The Church was built in the early 1960's by renowned Florida architect Nils Schweizer, a student of Frank Lloyd Wright. The 10:30 am Rite II service of worship with music is held in the Church, as are larger weddings and funerals.
The Church of the Good Shepherd exists to reveal Christ's love by caring for the sheep and searching for the lost.
The Good News of Christ is preached. The ancient liturgy of the Church is celebrated. The healing ministry of Christ is received. The door to the sheepfold is open - come and encounter the Shepherd of the flock, Jesus.
