Seafarers Ministry of the Golden Gate (SMGG) provides ministry of Christian hospitality to seafarers and port workers in the SF Bay area. Located in the Port of Oakland, our chaplain visits seafarers who may not be able to leave their ships, as well as provides spiritual support and services to all who have need. Seafarers are welcomed at the International Maritime center where they can Skype or use phone cards to call home, play games, or visit. Transportation to local venues is also provided. Seafarers are often signed onto ships and away from home for 6-9 months at a time. We know Seafarers appreciate our friendly atmosphere, chaplain and volunteers because they have rated us as one of the top 3 Centers in the world.
