About Avondale United Methodist Church

At Avondale United Methodist Church, we know that walking into a church for the first time can be a bit intimidating. We really strive to be a church that meets people where they are, whether you've been following Jesus for many years or are just starting to investigate faith. Our hope is that you will discover Avondale United Methodist Church in Birmingham, Alabama to be a place where you can find community, grow in your relationship with Jesus and discover the mission for your life.

We believe that there is one God who exists in three persons: The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. He is Sovereign and Faithful to fulfill everything is has promised in His Word. We believe that Jesus is God the Son. He was born of a virgin, was wholly God and wholly man, lived a sinless life, died in our place as a sacrifice for the sins of mankind, was buried, arose bodily from the grave, and ascended into Heaven where He resides today. He will literally return to earth at a time of His choosing to Judge all mankind. We further believe that God the Holy Spirit is active in convincing unbelievers of their need for salvation, and is the Comforter and Guide Who lives in the heart of every believer.

About Sin: We believe that man willfully sinned against God and is therefore lost and without hope apart from Jesus Christ. (Romans 3:23; 1 John 1:7; Acts 4:12)

About The Ministry: A divinely called and scripturally ordained ministry has been provided by our Lord for the fourfold purpose of leading the Church in: Evangelization of the world. Mark 16:15-20 Worship of God. John 4:23,24 Building a body of saints being perfected in the image of His Son. Ephesians 4:11-16, Meeting human need with ministries of love and compassion. Psalms 112:9, Galatians 2:10; 6:10, James 1:27
