About North Charlottesville Church of Christ
-
We, at North Charlottesville, are a group of disciples who are dedicated to serving the only True and Living God according to His Word. As followers of Jesus Christ, we are striving to follow the example of the first century church while wearing only the name, Christian.
Our services though simple, focus on worshipping God from the heart and in accordance to the New Testament pattern. Jesus said that God is seeking true worshippers who will worship Him in spirit and in truth (John 4:24)
If you join our worship on the Lord's Day, you will observe us joining together in congregational singing (Colossians 3:16), prayer (1 Timothy 2:8), study of the Scriptures (both the Old and New Testaments), and observance of the Lord's Supper ( 1 Corinthians 11:23-29). We also follow God's instructions in 1 Corinthians 16:1-2 and have a collection from among the members (we do not solicit funds from visitors).
We believe that the Scriptures teach that Christ is the head of the church and that each local congregation of His people is autonomous. God's Word teaches that a church is led by elders and deacons. Evangelists are men who teach the gospel both within and outside of the congregation.
The work of the church is spiritual rather than social. We as God's family at North Charlottesville work and worship together in love for God, for His Word and for one another. Our goals are three-fold: First, we strive to do all things to the glory of God our Father. Secondly, we strive to encourage and help each other along as we travel through life. Third, our goal is to reach out with the gospel, sharing with those around us the love of God and the gift of eternal life that is offered only through Jesus Christ our Lord.
