First Free’s mission is to make, mature, and multiply fully committed followers of Jesus Christ in our community and beyond.
We, as a church, aim to help every person here identify where he or she is in the discipleship process and get a clear picture of how we can cooperate with God’s work to move through the stages of discipleship to the point where we help others become disciples who make disciples. When we do that as individuals and as a church, we will fulfill our mission.
We believe that our mission comes from the Great Commission that Jesus gives His followers in the book of Matthew: “Then Jesus came to them and said, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age’.” (Matthew 28:18-20 NIV).
As Christ’s people, we do not choose our mission. We either obey or disobey the mission that we are given by God.
